Can Suno Write Lyrics in Other Languages? We Tested 17
Suno and Udio can sing in many languages, but accuracy varies a lot. We tested 17 — Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi and more. Here is what works and what breaks.
Suno has over 100 million users worldwide. Most of the tutorials, guides, and tips about AI music creation are written in English — but the majority of those 100 million users aren’t native English speakers. If you want to make AI music in Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, or Hindi, the question isn’t whether the tools support it. It’s whether the output is actually good.
We tested AI lyric generation across 17 languages using two different song concepts — a complex, literary song about emotional walls and self-protection, and a warm, simple love song about domestic comfort. We ran both through the AI model powering LyricDraft and judged the results honestly.
Here’s what we found, with the real unedited outputs so you can judge for yourself.
A note on how we tested
Both prompts were given the same song concept in English, with instructions to write naturally in each language — not to translate word-for-word, but to write as a native speaker would, with appropriate idioms and cultural phrasing. The AI was asked to maintain the same emotional concept and rhyme scheme across all languages.
We judged each output on three criteria: does it feel natural rather than translated, does the rhyme scheme hold in that language’s phonology, and does it capture the emotional register of the brief.
The two song concepts
Song 1 — Complex/literary:
A person who has spent years building walls around themselves to avoid being hurt, and the moment they realise those walls have also kept out everything good. The song sits in that bittersweet moment of understanding — not dramatic, just a quiet reckoning. Architecture metaphors — walls, doors, foundations, light through cracks. Melancholic but not self-pitying. Slow indie folk/pop.
Song 2 — Simple/warm:
A simple, warm love song about being completely comfortable with someone — morning coffee, familiar routines, the sound of them moving around in another room. Warm, gentle, deeply content. Not grand gestures — small moments.
The honest result
AI lyric generation in other languages is better than you’d expect — and unevenly good in ways that are worth understanding before you rely on it.
For seven languages the output is strong enough to use with minimal or no editing. For eight more it’s usable with a native speaker review. For two it’s structurally correct but feels noticeably translated.
Tier 1 — Strong: use with confidence
These languages produced natural, idiomatic output that reads like a native writer rather than a translation. Rhyme schemes hold, colloquialisms are appropriate, and the emotional register matches the brief.
🇪🇸 Spanish

Spanish is one of the strongest non-English languages for AI lyric generation. The output feels genuinely idiomatic, the rhyme schemes work naturally in Spanish phonology, and the emotional register holds across both simple and complex concepts.

Brazilian Portuguese is strong across both concepts. The output captures the warmth and musicality of Brazilian Portuguese naturally — not formal European Portuguese, but the colloquial register that works for popular music.

Practical tips for non-English lyrics in Suno
Regardless of which language you’re writing in, a few things consistently improve results:
Keep the style prompt in English. Suno’s style box expects English regardless of the lyric language. Describe your genre, tempo, and instrumentation in English even if the lyrics are in another language.
